Aimee Turner was crowned Miss Philadelphia 2018 on February 24th at Drexel University’s Mandell Theater, earning a 4,000 dollar college scholarship along with the title.

The Miss Philadelphia Scholarship Program, a 100% volunteer-based organization, is one of the most competitive local pageants in the Miss America system, the largest scholarship program for young women in the nation.

Aimee will compete for the Miss Pennsylvania crown in June in Pittsburgh. The winner will advance to compete for the title of Miss America in September in Atlantic City. Miss Philadelphia has gone on to be crowned Miss America three times since its inception in 1921 and Aimee has her sights on being the fourth.

For her talent, Aimee performs an aerial acrobatic routine to Beyonce's’ hit song “Halo” on her favorite apparatus, silks. In addition, Aimee is also trained in trapeze, lyra, rope, and sling.

During her year of service as Miss Philadelphia, Aimee will speak at more than 100 appearances on behalf of community programs, city events, and her platform,  Success through STEM - Promoting the importance of investing in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education. Aimee has dedicated her year of service to inspire others by sharing her own experience overcoming obstacles and achieving success as a data scientist.  

Aimee is a 23-year-old graduate of Drexel University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Science. She hopes to use the scholarship money from the Miss America Organization to obtain her MBA concentrating in Business Analytics.

Facts about Miss Philadelphia 2018

  • Aimee bought her own home in Overbrook at age of 20

  • Aimee is from a long line of military veterans on both sides of her family dating all the way back to the revolutionary war.  

  • Aimee’s Cherokee Native American heritage earned her a scholarship to continue her higher education.

  • Aimee as a freshman at Drexel had the opportunity of presenting her research at the Harvard National Collegiate research conference, where she was given the top prize in the field of mathematics.

  • Aimee was a four-time Intel International Science and Engineering Fair finalist where she was named 3rd in the world twice for her research in Environmental Science.

  • Aimee was a Phillies Ballgirl before assuming the title of Miss Philadelphia
